Who I Don’t Work With
Over the last 16 years of working 1-2-1 with clients I have learned who tends to get the best results from working with me and who I play with best.
Without any attempt to criticise I have identified 4 traits or characteristics that tend to prevent people from getting the best possible results from my programmes.
They are:
The Serial Procrastinator - this individual suffers from analysis paralysis or waiting for all the stars to be perfectly aligned before taking any form of action. This type of person is likely not going to get the best results from my programmes.
My programmes are all about getting to the root of challenges and struggles but at some point we MUST decide upon and take action in order to bring about transformation and the results that you are looking for.
The Discomfort avoider - We all want to be liked of course so we have a tendency to present the image of us we believe people want to see or that we want them to see. In fact it is hard wired into us.
The type of person though is a serial avoider of uncomfortable questions and often end up talking about feelings or pontificating over what’s wrong or what’s wrong with ME and avoiding the question that will create the breakthrough.
There is nothing WRONG with this of course but my coaching is all about gaining clarity with the intent of new action and so new habit.
There are definitely coaches out there who love this long form but my focus is habit based transformation which contains elements of uncomfortable or challenging questions. This is the most rapid route to clarity and that is my aim.
The Outside looker - This person tends to look everywhere but at themselves in order to locate the cause of their struggle and the strategy for fixing them.
There is of course a time and a place for blame and strategising about how to change other people in order to have the life we want. There are even coaches that will support you in creating those strategies.
My coaching however works on the law of cause and effect and the belief that we are able to change our perceptions and influence our own reality at all times.
My primary focus is creating clarity, direction, focus and strategy in our greatest area of influence- our own thoughts, words and actions.
If it’s not personal transformation you are looking for then my coaching is not for you.
The Pleaser - The pleaser seldom has time for anything new for long. They tend to prioritise the loudest screamer in their life and so they are always chasing their tail and failing to keep commitments to themselves or other people.
My programmes require a consistent commitment and the best results come from ATTENTION, INTENTION and REPETITION of the practises involves.
You will become a very important person in my life if we begin working together and in order to get the best possible result “the work” will need to become important in yours.
This doesn’t mean it will be all consuming but I have an expectation that you will keep to what we agree to with regards to time, attention and intention.
The pleaser will not get the best results from my programme because they are at the whims of whom ever is closest to them and asking something of them.
You will already know if this rules you in or out.
To be clear, we all procrastinate, find questions uncomfortable, blame and prioritise in a way that lets others down occasionally.
I’m not saying that doing these things rules you out of working with me. BUT if you find that you never take action, you never get uncomfortable and sit with it, you always blame and look to others for why your life is not how you want it to be or constantly fail to keep your commitments then we are likely not a good fit.
If however you are an action taking, discomfort facing, responsibility owning, commitment making leader then we are likely a great fit and my programmes will help you take your life and performance to the next level.
Hey, so I understand this is might seem strange but what I’m really looking to do is help those who are looking for a coach to know quickly and simply if we are not a good fit without having to go through the process and interviewing each other.
I take my coaching relationships VERY seriously and so I want to make sure that those who reach out to me are already aligned with me.
