Attention

Attention

We only have so much of it to give.

We require it in order to move other people.

The biggest companies in the world are in a

race to gain as much of it as possible in

order to monetise it.

Now, more than ever we have to be

absolutely intentional about where we place our attention.

It is the currency of our lives.

In each moment we are deciding what is most important to us by where we choose to place our attention.

Kids or phone

Netflix or sleep

Exercise or sofa

What makes life more complicated is that rarely is the answer always the same.

Although that’s not REALLY true, we don’t DECIDE.

Where our attention goes demonstrates our HABITS.

It’s easy to find ourselves doing the exact

opposite of what we would do if we were to

review the situation in advance.

Which brings us to INTENT.

When we aren’t clear on our intent in advance our attention is pulled towards what our brain predicts is most pressing. (That’s what habit is).

We find ourselves on our phone when we want to be with our kids.

Netflixing when we want to be asleep.

Micromanaging when we want to be trusting.

Doing when we want to be delegating.

If we wish to shift our ATTENTION we have to align our INTENTION.

We do this by learning:

WHAT we are already doing

WHY we’re doing it

HOW we can meet that need another way

WHAT we would like to do instead

WHY we would like to do it instead

Deliberate habits are formed by AIR

Attention

Intent

Repetition

Are you consciously choosing your habits or is your attention being highjacked?

Ps thank you for your attention, I really don’t take it lightly that you choose to spend some of your precious time with me.
