Do you hold your breath when you’re looking at your phone?
Do you hold your breath when you’re looking at your phone?
If you don’t you are one of a rare few.
Anticipation causes us to hold our breath resulting in poor blood flow as well as oxygen and nutrient delivery.
Common places are messengers, emails, feeling like you are behind or running late, unpredictable situations like sales or getting funding and yes, doom scrolling.
The side effect are many.
a. Stimulant craving - caffeine, sugar, nicotine
b. Head aches, energy slumps, anxiety, agitation, stiff neck, low back pain.
The brain is in (a) trying to get its oxygen needs met and in (b) sounding the alarm that it is not being.
It doesn’t need to be this way of course it is possible to have good and balanced energy in amongst a high anticipation business.
The solution
1. A consistent oxygen circulating system
- mouth tape at night
- Daily walks
- Daily exercise
2. Phone and email hygiene
- when will you use it
- When will you not
- When will you do emails
3. Make decisions in advance for what you will do given the worst possible outcome.
